You like me... you really like me!?

So you've decided to part with $19.95 - please accept my heartfelt thanks! The shareware apps I own are some of the most used (and most useful) software on my machine. Here's how registration works:

  • Payment through Paypal or Kagi. To start the process, choose "Puchase Online..." from the "Purchase" menu in NetScrape. You will be given a choice between Paypal or Kagi registration payment.
  • Registration code from Positive Spin Media. If you are using Paypal, you will be forwarded to PSM's worldwide headquarters and given your very own registration code after completing the payment process. If you are using Kagi, you will receive a code via email within 48 hours of your purchase. Note that the code will come from a positivespinmedia.com email address - receipts from Paypal and Kagi do not have the code on them.
  • Enter code into NetScrape. Once you receive the code, enter it into NetScrape. Choose "Enter Registration Code..." from the "Purchase" menu, and you are on your way. The registration preference window will appear and ask for the code; copy/paste it from the email and click the "Verify" button.

Some notes about registration.

The shareware industry has as many viewpoints about software piracy as it does ways to avoid it. Some interesting discussions are here and here.

What NetScrape does to prevent piracy.

When a registration code is issued by the server and entered by the user, NetScrape will "phone home" and tell the server that the code has been used. NetScrape also phones home each time it is run to verify that the code being used is still valid. If Positive Spin Media finds a NetScrape code at any of the various pirate sites, PSM reserves the right to de-activate that particular code. PSM will re-issue a new code or a refund to the registered owner who had the pirated code. Sorry, pirates, no soup for you (Seinfeld reference...)!

Now you hate me... you really hate me?!

It is my belief that most people are honest folk who have no problem paying for shareware if they like it, and no problem not paying and not using it if they don't like it. If NetScrape's anti-piracy features really tick you off, please don't vent on me - download BombSquad mini instead - it's free. No cracking needed.
